Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures). | | -
Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation). | Vehicles with diesel engine | -
Remove the charge air cooler intake hose. | All vehicles | -
Disconnect the transaxle electrical connectors and detach the wiring harness from the wiring harness bracket. | | -
Remove the transaxle wiring harness bracket from the transaxle. - Detach the fluid cooler pipes from the bracket.

NOTE:Plug the fluid cooler pipes to prevent oil loss or dirt ingress. Detach the fluid cooler pipes from the transaxle. - Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

Remove the fluid pan retaining bolts. | | -
CAUTION:Do not damage the transaxle fluid pan. Using the special tool, remove the transaxle fluid pan. - Slide the special tool around the profile of the pan.
| Installation All vehicles | -
NOTE:Make sure that the fluid pan and transaxle case mating faces are clean and oil free. | | -
Apply a 5 mm diameter bead of sealant to the inside edge of the fluid pan mating face. | | -
NOTE:Tighten the fluid pan retaining bolts evenly working diagonally. Install the fluid pan. | | -
Attach the fluid cooler pipes to the transaxle. | | -
Install the transaxle wiring harness bracket to the transaxle. - Attach the fluid cooler pipes to the bracket.

Attach the transaxle wiring harness to the wiring harness bracket and connect the transaxle electrical connectors. | Vehicles with diesel engine | -
Install the charge air cooler intake hose. | All vehicles | -
Fill the transaxle with automatic transmission fluid. For additional information, refer to: Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill (307-01B Automatic Transmission/Transaxle - Vehicles With: 5-Speed Automatic Transmission (5F31J), General Procedures). | | -
Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures). | | -
